The Poetry Collection

Riding up to the station by bus one day in the Fall, like I do almost every day, there were many trees along the canal. All were barren and leafless except one; it shined alone in hues from fiery red to golden yellow.

I thought it was beautiful to see. Even more so, since the sun shined its precious light upon it. Like it was all meant to be that day. I find poetry in these sights. In these moments I feel closer to my surroundings than ever and at the same time so far away, lost in my own revelry. I think it’s a great feeling to have in this fast paced society we all live in. The feeling of really being in the moment.

Riding the bus for two hours every day does that kind of a thing to a person, at least to me. It makes me very philosophical, if I want to or not. At the same time it gives me a lot of inspiration to create new things. I have made it a habit to write down what I see. I try to capture these things, like photographs. It is not always easy to put into words how the sight of a lone barren tree makes you feel, the lines it paints against the white of the sky. Or when the first snow falls down on your face, tickling your skin while it slowly melts. In essence it is a feeling I want to transfer, before it’s gone. A feeling is what lingers after all, not words.

All these little moments and captures are the foundation for my new collection, called the ‘Poetry Collection’. Each new design is based on a sight I saw somewhere and how it made me feel. I try to translate that to a design. The first being my ‘picking flowers sweater’, which is out now!

Each pattern from the poetry collection will begin with a poem. With this poem, I hope to take you on my journey. I try to let you see what I saw and most importantly, I’ll try to let you feel what I felt.

The picking flowers sweater, for example, is based on the feeling of a new spring, the smell of first mowed grass after a long winter, the subtly change in the air, the warm rays of sunlight on your face, the true beginning of a new year. I hope to capture this feeling in the sweater design and that I may take you along. We’ll wander through the fields and we’ll pick flowers together!

I also hope that you will be inspired by this collection to look more closely to your own surroundings. You’ll be amazed by all the things you might not have seen before!

Like the Read with me collection, this collection will be slowly built up over time. I am not in a hurry to publish patterns and I take my time to give you the best designs and patterns I possibly can!

Do you ever look closely to your surroundings? What do you get inspired by?
