Hi everyone! I’m very pleased to announce my very first self-hosted CAL (Crochet-A-Long)! I have helped with a lot of CALs in the past with the Hotel of Bees shawl, but I never hosted one myself.
Today I will tick off that box and announce a new CAL with the Picking Flowers sweater!
If you have ever wanted to crochet a sweater, but were not confident enough that it will fit you, this is the CAL for you! I will help you with extra tips to get the fit just right for you and to make adjustments if you need them, like a higher neckline, a longer sleeve, a wider body, etc. Together we can make wonderful sweaters 🙂
Hallo iedereen! Ik vind het super leuk om mijn eerste zelf-opgezette CAL (Haak-A-Long) aan te kondigen! Ik heb meegeholpen met vele CALs van de Hotel of Bees shawl, maar ik heb nog nooit zelf een CAL opgezet en gehost.
Vandaag zal ik dit af kunnen vinken en kondig ik hierbij de nieuwe CAL aan met de Picking Flowers trui!
Als je ooit een trui hebt willen haken, maar je vond dit te moeilijk of was bang dat hij niet zou passen, dan is dit de CAL voor jou! Ik zal je helpen met extra tips om de maat goed te krijgen en je helpen waar nodig met aanpassingen, zoals een hogere hals, langere mouw, wijdere trui, etc. Samen kunnen we prachtige truien maken 🙂
Q&A about the CAL (Vraag en Antwoord over de CAL)
Q: When will the CAL run?
A: The CAL will run from Monday the 24th of July until Monday the 28th of August.
V: Vanaf wanneer en voor hoelang zal de CAL lopen?
A: De CAL loopt van maandag 24 juli tot maandag 28 augustus
Q: Where will the CAL be hosted?
A: The CAL will be hosted at my brand spanking new facebook group called ‘A Spoonful of Yarnies’. It is a closed group so you need to request acces and I will submit you to the group.
V: Waar zal de CAL plaatsvinden?
A: De CAL zal gehost worden op mijn gloednieuwe facebookgroep ‘A Spoonful of Yarnies’. Het is een besloten groep, dus je kunt toegang vragen en dan zal ik je toevoegen aan de groep.
Q: Do we receive a new part each week?
A: Because it’s an existing pattern, I will not upload a new part each week. The whole pattern is already online and you can work on it at your own pace.
V: Ontvangen we elke week een nieuw deel van het patroon?
A: Omdat het een bestaand patroon is, zal ik niet elke week een nieuw deel uploaden. Het gehele patroon is al online verkrijgbaar en je kunt er in je eigen tempo aan werken.
Q: Will this be a free CAL?
A: No, but if you join the CAL group, there will be a discount code for 20% off until the end of the CAL. This way the pattern will only cost 4 euros and in return you will get all the help you need with the pattern.
V: Is dit een gratis CAL?
A: Nee, maar als je lid wordt van de groep dan is er een kortingscode beschikbaar van 20% die geldt tot het einde van de CAL. Hierdoor zal het patroon nog maar 4 euro kosten. In ruil daarvoor krijg je alle hulp die je nodig hebt met het patroon.

Q: What is the difficulty level?
A: Next to the ‘normal’ stitches the special stitches are: front post dc and tr, double crochet clusters This makes the pattern intermediate. However, during the CAL we are all there to help each other 🙂
V: Wat is de moeilijkheidsgraad?
A: naast de normale steken worden de volgende speciale steken gebruikt: relief stokje en dubbel stokje (voor en achter) en clusters met stokjes. Dit maakt het patroon intermediair. Maar we zijn er tijdens de CAL allemaal om elkaar te helpen 🙂
Q: What materials do I need?
A: It is made with light fingering merino/silk yarn (Wol met Verve Silk Sock in ‘After eight candy’ and ‘Rocky mountain’, 420m/100g) and uses a 2 mm (B/1) and 3,5 mm (E/4) hook.
For the main color you will need approx. :
XS, (S, M, L, XL), 3, (3, 3, 4, 4) skeins:
215g/903m, (255g/1071m, 285g/1197m, 320g/1344m, 385g/1617m) 7.6 oz/987 yd, (9 oz/1171 yd, 10 oz/1309 yd, 11.3 oz/1469 yd, 13.6 oz/1768 yd)
For the contrasting color you will need approx. :
XS, (S, M, L, XL), 1 skein:
35g/147m, (40g/168m, 40g/168m, 40g/168m, 45g/189m) 1.2 oz/160 yd, (1.4 oz/183 yd, 1.4 oz/183 yd, 1.4 oz/183 yd, 1.6 oz/206 yd)
V: Welk materiaal heb ik nodig?
A: De trui is gemaakt met dun sokkenwol in een Merino/zijde mix (Wol met Verve Silk Sock in de kleur ‘After eight candy’ en ‘Rocky mountain’, 420m/100g) en gebruikt daarvoor een 2mm en 3,5mm haaknaald.
– Voor de centrale kleur heb je ongeveer nodig: 215g/903m, (255g/1071m, 285g/1197m, 320g/1344m, 385g/1617m)
– Voor de contrasterende kleur heb je ongeveer nodig: 35g/147m, (40g/168m, 40g/168m, 40g/168m, 45g/189m)
Q: Can I use something else?
A: You can use other fibres that have stretch in them, like all types of wool or silk or fibre blends. You can also make this sweater in acrylic, but it is my experience that it will not block well, so you need to make sure that your unblocked gauge is the same as the blocked gauge (given in the pattern). This way you don’t need to stretch your work.
V: Kan ik ook iets anders gebruiken?
A: Je kunt ook ander garen gebruiken die een goede rek hebben, zoals alle soorten wol of zijde of vezel mixen. Je kan deze trui ook in acryl maken, maar het is mijn ervaring dat deze niet zo goed in vorm spannen. Daarom moet je zorgen dat je niet-opgespannen stekenverhouding hetzelfde is als de opgespannen stekenverhouding (gegeven in het patroon). Hierdoor hoef je je werk niet meer echt op te rekken als je trui af is.
